Army cadets lead Remembrance Parade in Oxford
James Gurung,
14 November 2010
Today over twenty cadets from Quebec Company, Oxfordshire (The Rifles) ACF joined servicepeople and youth groups from across the county at a community Remembrance Service in Oxford. It was a very moving occasion and we all reflected on the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces, past and present.
The cadets arrived at 9am immaculately dressed and spent over an hour practising their drill in advance of the parade. By the time it began, they were well rehearsed and at their best. They marched smartly into position on St Giles with the various other uniformed contingents and proceeded to hear readings from the Lord Mayor, Lord Lieutenant and religious leaders.
At 11am, the parade stood to attention for the Last Post and Great Silence.
Afterwards they proudly sung the National Anthem and the Band and Bugles of Oxfordshire ACF led the parade past the saluting dais where officers showed their respect to senior officials.
