Two Saturdays before Christmas, Wheatley Detachment took part in a fundraising event at ASDA in Wheatley. They helped shoppers and check-out staff with bag packing and raised the incredible amount of £1530.00. £850.00 will go to the Care for Casualties appeal.
Honorary Colonel to Oxfordshire ACF, Brigadier Robin Draper, received the cheque and said he was immensly proud of the cadets. Few people appreciate that The Rifles, although just four years old, has had more casualties than any other Regiment with 54 killed in action in operations in Afghanistan and 290 seriously wounded. Demand on the appeal will increase over the next three years. Care for Casualties is an appeal that gives the severly wounded, their families and the families of those who have lost their lives support, inspiration and the means to make the best of their future.
The remaining £500 raised will help support adventurous training activities.
